Finally, its enthralling story is both deep and plausible - a combination that is often lost in modern games. The characters are as believable and memorable as they come. The combat is straightforward, fluid, and entertaining. This is one of the few games that actually successfully manages to integrate a lot of FMV into the action, mostly because it uses trained film actors and directors. It is one of those games that did everything right. Wing Commander 4 is one of the greatest space sims of all time, and some even consider it the greatest one of all. Confed HQ needed the best and decided to recall Colonel Blair to active duty. Soon enough, heinous incidents erupted on the outskirts of the Confederation, and humanity was forced to the brink of civil war. In these times of peace, humans grew fat and complacent. Even Christopher "Maverick" Blair, the famous Confed pilot responsible for ending the war, settled down and became a farmer. As hostilities died out, more trivial concerns like rebuilding what was lost or dealing with space piracy, became the biggest concerns of the Terran Confederation. The year is 2673, four years after the Treaty of Torgo and the end of the Kilrathi War. In this less spectacular but more practical day, we are left to solve our problems with our own minds and our own will. Upon us is the age of The Fellowship, in which one does not simply wait in anticipation for a heroic savior when a crisis occurs. With the decline on reliability of mages, and with the kingdom turning away from the magical arts, it is doubtful that extreme danger - that which would require an Avatar’s aid to defeat it - will ever return to Britannia. By all indications the age of magic is coming to an end. Whatever interpretation of history proves to be most accurate, it seems undeniable that the Avatar will not return to our fair kingdom. After all, our good sovereign monarch, wise Lord British, has himself displayed an amazing longevity! While saying it is most unlikely, historians do not firmly deny the possibility of there having been only on Avatar. All of the writings insist that the Avatar who negotiated the peace between Britannia and the gargoyles is the one and same person who first appeared to vanquish the sorcerer Mondain those many years ago. It is most likely that there has been more than one Avatar. ![]() In reality, one need look no further than the Isle of the Avatar to see very persuasive evidence that the Avatar did indeed exist - at least as a person if not as a spiritual being! While there are those who maintain that the stories of the Avatar are only myths, practically all credible scholars say that at least some elements of the Avatar’s tales are historical fact. However, most agree when it comes to a number of basic theories. Some argue that as time moves on, the truth of what actually occurred will fade even further away and that we have a responsibility to preserve the legends as we now know them. Some have written that at last it is possible to interpret the tales of the Avatar as they should be, with the proper historical perspective. This shows how the navigation control will overlay the joystick. It has been two centuries since the Avatar last appeared in our good kingdom. This is what it looks like when in full flight mode. Mouse nav will swap absolute and relative. If you use the pause twice it will bring up the in-game menu. The time will bring up the time acceleration menu. This will overlay the joystick, so you can rotate your view when on external view. Swipe right to bring up the Navigation and time controls. The missile/bomb button is single and double tap for they’re respective function. You have to double tap the eject for it to trigger. Double tapping with the mouse on the main view will right click for more precise maneuvering. The throttle also serve as zoom controls when double tapped, and double tapping the jump button will force a miss-jump. It’s just a joystick, throttle buttons, and a jump button. Swiping left will bring up the flight controls. They will change to whatever function they serve, like navigation and market buttons. It’s essentially all the function buttons. If you swipe up it will bring up the onscreen controls. ![]() I like to enjoy the wonderful intro for this game. I made this for a phone (Pixel 2), so if it works on anything larger let me know.
